Piazza Navona, fontain

Piazza Navona is inarguably the finest square to explore in Rome due to its exquisite and elegant design. It is one of the favorite spots of tourists visiting the capital of the world. It is situated just west of the famous historical monument of the Pantheon. This area is also well-known as the historical centre of Rome. It is believed that this piazza was constructed in 86 AD by Emperor Domitian. Before that, there was a stadium in its place. For that reason, the shape of Piazza Navona resembles an oval stadium even today.

On top of that, the spectacular baroque architecture is something everyone must experience if they are in Rome. This place is full of rich history of the intriguing roman era. Look around standing here and you will find some of the best places Rome has to offer.

In addition to that, the main attraction of this square id the magnificent fountain designed by the respected Italian piazza-navonaarchitect Gian Lorenzo Bernini. In fact, there are three fountains you can discover here. The central fountain is known as Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi meaning fountain of the four rivers. The other two fountains situated on north and south end are respectively called Fontana del Nettuno and Fontana del Moro. These fountains are pretty popular for their aesthetic beauty and amazing view.

This destination is also renowned as a center of catholic people as it also has a world-famous church of Sant’Agnese in Agon. It was built in the 17th century by Pope Innocent. You will find many other churches quite near from here. This place is a vehicle free zone is, therefore, a pedestrian area. This means that you can fully explore the whole area by walking. There are many restaurants, clubs and cafes surrounding this Piazza as well! This is certainly a superb place to visit if you are in Rome.

We recommend buying these tickets

We have been collaborating with Ticketbar for advance ticket sales for a few years. The people who tried it were always very well and that’s why we recommend it. If you do not want to make eternal lines (what happened to us this October at the Colosseum) we suggest you to skip the line.
